Two Effective Ways To Get Leverage In Your Business Using the Internet

By:Jaime Soriano April 3, 2010

Today, I wanted to make a short post to my blog that will be slightly different than what I normally post.  If you’ve read any of my past posts, I like to post different methods of driving traffic to your website or how to increase web traffic once you start getting traffic to your website.
Today, I wanted to touch upon the “WHY” of building an Internet business… and then briefly touch upon two methods to leverage your business and “automate” some of the areas of your business.  Again, I just want to emphasize that I will be BRIEFLY touching upon this subject.  In future posts,  I’ll go deeper into this subject for readers that may have an interest in this subject.
For many people, there are many reasons to build a successful Internet business.  Some of these reasons include:
– Starting and building a business for tens of thousands of dollars less than starting an offline retail business.
– Tapping into a much bigger market as the Internet can connect you to people halfway across the globe.
– You can build and run your business from anywhere in the world as long as you have your laptop and an internet connection.
But by far, the most attractive aspect of starting and building an Internet business is “automating” your business by leveraging different systems and resources available online.  As a matter of fact, coming from over 12 years of offline marketing, the fact that you can automate a majority of the “work” was very appealing for me.  In my offline business, I had to physically seek out customers, follow up with them, close the sale, process the paperwork, and maintain the customer… and then repeat the process to acquire the next customer.  Now while I made great money, I had no leverage whatsoever.  In other words, while I was working hard, I wasn’t working smart.  I was in a position where I had to work harder if I wanted to increase my income.  To make a long story short, what drew me to the Internet was LEVERAGE.  I actually saw a way to make income and increase my income by setting up systems and then leveraging those systems to run my Internet business on “autopilot”.
OK… blah, blah, blah… You didn’t come here to read about my story, right?
You’re here to find out about two simple methods to “automate” your Internet business.  Both these methods are methods I use.  (By the way, the reason I am quoting the word automate is because (in my opinion) there is no such thing as a 100% automated system… but you can get real close by using what’s available to do most of the “heavy lifting” for you.)
The two simple ways you can leverage and “automate” your Internet business are:
1. Using Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising can automate your paid traffic.  PPC is the very best way to drive instant traffic to your website!  The great thing about PPC is you can set it up one time… and then leave it alone for the most part with the exception of checking on your account once and while to tweak certain keywords.  You can do PPC on Google with Google Adwords or on Yahoo or Bing.  The key is to establish a fair price you’ll pay per click.  The cool thing is you can determine the maximum you’ll pay per click (visitor) and the maximum you’ll pay per day.  You can also choose the audience you want to see your ad by using keywords and key phrases that you choose.  Of course, there’s more to it than that (like ad copy, knowing how to use negative keywords to minimize untargeted impressions, having a good quality score, etc)  but in a nutshell, that’s it.  You get the traffic you need at the price you want…and you can tweak and manage your account as you see fit.  In my opinion, if you’re wondering how to increase web traffic instantly, PPC is the finest way hands down.  The thing that I would recommend is that you consult with someone who knows PPC before you try it so you don’t lose your shirt!  And of course, to do PPC requires that you have a budget… If you don’t have a budget, then forget about PPC.  This doesn’t mean the end of the world, as you can obviously get into FREE TRAFFIC… but just understand that it may take a little longer to get that constant flow of traffic you need to see results.
2. Autoresponders automate your follow up.
As great as your website or blog is, statistics tell us that 95% of the people that see your offer, won’t buy on the spot.  That doesn’t make them bad people… that’s just the nature of the beast.  That’s marketing.  You’ve got to build your list, build a relationship with your list, then remind them to come back, visit your site and buy your product or join your business.  The best “automated” way to do that is through autoresponders.  You can set up an account with Aweber, invite your visitors to subscribe to your website or blog and you can send them a series of “automatic” emails that will help you build relationships with your readers (assuming your providing value and sharing useful content and not just spamming them!) and offer a convenient reminder to re-visit your website or blog.  This is “automation” at its best.  For the most part, you’re able to leverage this “hands off” system to follow up with interested “prospects”.  If you’re a network marketer, the power here is when you pick up the phone to call a lead, chances are there will be a mini-relationship that exists and (if you’ve done your job correctly) there will be a position of leadership established assuming you’ve provided value and content.  Or, you can be getting calls from people asking you about your business!
Now, is it realistic to think you can automate your business so that you no longer work everyday.  Only you can answer that depending on how much you want to personally interact with people.  But one thing I can tell you is that you can realistically automate a vast majority of your business.  In fact, in my opinion, you can probably automate 95% of the “heavy lifting” by using the two systems I mentioned above along with several others that I’ll post on in the future.
In closing, starting and building an Internet business can very profitable and at the same time give you the time freedom and quality of life you may be looking for.  And that, my friends, is awesome!
