So you’re sick and tired of your job and your financial situation, and you’re dead set on starting a network marketing business. You’ve done your research and you’ve picked a company that resonates with you and a product you can get passionate about.
Before you get going, I want to give you a nugget of knowledge that will help you as you build your business.
Over the last 14 years in this industry, I’ve seen a lot of people have astronomical success. I’ve been around, and studied, some of the biggest and wealthiest leaders in the network marketing arena. At the same time, I’ve seen far more people “fail” in this industry. Now, there are a multitude of reasons why people “fail” in this industry and quit their business, and I can probably list down 100 of them that I’ve heard or witnessed over my career. But, today I want to single out one of the main reasons why people don’t do well in this industry, so you can avoid it in your career.
One of the biggest reasons people fail in this industry is that they simply don’t give themselves enough time to succeed. Building a business takes time. There’s a process that you need to go through.
For example, the average person who starts a network marketing business never built a business before, and if they have, they probably never built a network marketing business before, which is a totally different animal than a traditional business.
There’s a learning curve you need to go through. And, I’m not talking about learning your company’s products. I’m talking about learning the skills you need to succeed in this industry. I’m talking about learning how to change the way you think from an employee to a business owner… from a mediocre mindset to an abundance and prosperity mindset… from a negative attitude to a consciously positive attitude. I’m talking about learning how to deal with and work with people. All of this takes time. And, then you need to understand that your leaders will take some time to go through this learning curve as well.
Now, it doesn’t take 10 years to have success in this industry…
But it certainly won’t happen overnight. So many people say they’re not looking for a get-rich-quick-scheme, but when they’re not making $10,000 a month in their 2nd month in the business, they throw their hands up and say this industry doesn’t work. It does work, as long as you understand that you’re building a business and it will take some time.

Art used to always say that building the foundation of a strong business that will take care of you and your family takes about 3-5 years. In addition, statistics show that if you diligently build your business and stick with one company for at least 10 years, chances are you will be one of the highest paid leaders in your company.
Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “3 years? 5 years? 10 years? That just takes too long.” I didn’t say that you had to starve for 3 years or 5 years? You’ll be making money along the way. But, what I am telling you is, if your goal is to have total financial freedom, to change your family’s financial life for generations to come and to never, to never have to worry about money or paying bills ever again, who cares if you have to work for 3-5 years? Chances are you’ll be working for the next 3-5 years anyway… It might as well be at something that AT LEAST has the potential of making you wealthy.
Keep this in mind…
As you build your business and you hit road bumps along the way, and yes, you will hit road bumps, that’s life. Just because you’re a network marketer now doesn’t mean that life still won’t happen because it will. Just make a decision that you’ll commit to building your business and you’re here for the long haul.
