If you’re a network marketer, then you’re probably racking your brain thinking of ways you can sponsor more people into your business. Chances are you’re pitching every person with a pulse within a few feet from you and telling them about how great your company is, and how your company’s products are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
If that sounds familiar, don’t worry because you’re not alone. Thousands upon thousands of network marketers do this every single day. I personally did this every day when I got started in network marketing almost 15 years ago. And while I would not go as far as telling you that this ‘technique’ doesn’t work, I will tell you that it is brutal.
Because the rejection is overwhelming.
Don’t get me wrong. In this industry, most people will not join your business and you will inevitably face a certain amount of ‘rejection’. That’s just the way it is. It’s not a bad thing. It just is what it is. That’s why the income potential in the Industry is unlimited. If most people did it, you’d get paid minimum wage.
However, there is a way to attract and sponsor people into your business without going through the brutality of getting rejected 100-200 times a day as you try to pitch your opportunity, and build your business.
Obviously, there are no magic bullets. But you can sponsor people into your business without sounding like a ‘sleazy’ used car sales person trying to pitch something to somebody that has their arms crossed.
Instead of chasing prospects and pitching them on your ‘deal’, you can attract them to you like a powerful magnet. How do I know that this is possible? Because there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t get a couple of phone calls and emails from people who I’ve never met, asking me for more information about my services or my primary network marketing company.
– What would your business look like if you had people chasing you down for information?
– How would it feel to have more people to talk to about your business than you can get to?
– What would it feel like to tell someone that you don’t think it would be a fit for you to work together, as opposed to begging and trying to convince them that they should sign up with you?
If you’re interested in attracting more prospects to you so you can be the ‘hunted’ instead of you being the ‘hunter’, then pay attention to the 3 concepts that I’m going to briefly outline below in no particular order:
#1. Brand yourself – Traditional network marketers have a hard time with this one because they’re so conditioned to brand their company, their company’s products and their company’s compensation plan. Smart marketers know and understand that branding YOURSELF is the key.
It’s the reason why smart marketers drive traffic to their self branded lead capture page, personal blog or personal Facebook fan page, instead of driving traffic to their company’s replicated site.
It’s the reason why even ‘offline’ network marketing experts like Eric Worre, Todd Falcone and Randy Gage have a self branding blog.
Savvy network marketers know and understand that people join people and leaders… not products and compensation plans.
If you’re going to start attracting prospects to you, it’s critical that you start branding yourself as a leader people can learn from and stop telling people how great your products are. People don’t care about that. Nor do they care that you have the ‘greatest comp plan in the industry’. What they do care about is leadership and whether or not you can help and train them on their journey to success.
#2. Use a good sales funnel – If you drive prospects through a good sales funnel, then you will only deal with prospects that are interested. Prospects that are not interested in hearing from you or working with you will weed themselves out.
That’s why it’s called a ‘funnel’.
You drive loads of traffic to your website (lead capture page) and people that are not interested simply click away. But those that are interested in more information or hearing from you will opt-in, or subscribe, to your email list or text distribution list.
After receiving a few emails, they will either ‘unsubscribe’ from your list and weed themselves out or they will buy your product, join your business or pick up the phone and call you to get their last minute questions answered before they buy or join.
Now, what does this mean to you?
It means that you will only be talking to people that are interested in what you’re offering. People that aren’t interested will not bother to pick up the phone to call you or they will ‘unsubscribe’ from your email list. This is how you significantly decrease rejection while sponsoring more people into your business. Imagine taking phone calls from 7-10 people a day that you didn’t have to ‘pitch’ anything to, and just had a few questions to ask you before they sign up.
Of course, this is an ideal example and we live in an un-ideal world. But for the most part, if you’re marketing the right way and have a strong sales funnel, this is pretty much what happens.
Keep in mind, there will be times when you pick up the phone and call your leads and there will be times where you put on different webinars for people on your list. But the concept is the same. Once you’ve branded yourself and you have a good sales funnel in place, you will attract pre-interested people that are ready to join your business.
#3. Become good at driving quality traffic to your lead capture page – Generating leads doesn’t not have to be difficult, nor does it have to take forever either. It does however start with traffic. With that said, there are many ways you can drive traffic to your website. While many marketers leverage free traffic strategies, there are also paid marketing strategies you can take advantage of that will bring immediate traffic to your website. In my opinion, if you have the budget to pay for some of your traffic, go ahead and do so. Even if you’re planning on using free traffic strategies, taking advantage of paid ads will drive ‘instant’ traffic to your website that you will need to get results faster.
With a significant stream of high quality traffic, you’ll be able to generate leads on a daily basis. And when you have more leads than you can possibly talk to, you will not feel any rejection whatsoever.
In addition to not feeling rejection, your posture will significantly increase as well. When you don’t feel the pain of rejection and you have good posture, you will absolutely sponsor more people into your business because your attitude will be different.
In closing, applying any one of these concepts can make a big difference to your sponsoring results. Using them in conjunction with one another will take your results to a whole new level.
Of course, trying to figure out all the moving parts to a successful marketing system will take you a tremendous amount of time and money. That’s why I always recommend using a ‘proven’ marketing system that you can simply leverage and plug into. A ‘plug and play’ system if you will.
If you can do that, you’ll potentially shave off up to a year in your learning curve and you’ll be able to get your business to where you want it to be significantly faster.
