So you’ve just joined a network marketing company, and you’re pumped and excited about your company’s business opportunity. Chances are you’ve already compiled a list of people to talk to and you’re ready to get your business launched.
So you call the first person on your list and proceed to tell him about how great company’s products are and all the science and technology behind them…
After 30 minutes, he turns around and says – “No thanks. I’m not interested.”
You call the second person on your list and start to tell him about how great the compensation plan is and how you plan to build a huge residual income by maximizing the company’s system.
Again… after about 30 minutes, he tells you – “Uhh. That’s OK, but I’ll pass.”
You call the third person and start telling them about the background of the company’s owners and how their vision for the company is to be the next billion dollar network marketing company.
And again… after about 30 minutes, he tell you – “I’m not interested. But thanks.”
After calling the 20 or 30 people on your list, you stop and realize that you’ve gotten horrible results…
You don’t understand how so many people can’t see what you see. The company is solid, the products are great, and the compensation plan is lucrative… but why doesn’t anyone want to join.
The reason is you went about the whole process wrong.
As a new distributor, you’re ONLY job is to INVITE people to see the presentation. That’s it!
Nothing more… Nothing less…
You’re NOT supposed to EXPLAIN anything. And frankly, you don’t know enough to EXPLAIN anything.
When you EXPLAIN your company and opportunity, you do 3 things:
1. You give people the opportunity to bombard you with questions… that you probably can’t answer yet, or at least answer professionally and with posture.
2. You give people the impression that they have to be a super-salesperson to explain the business and convince people to join… and people don’t want to have anything to do with sales.
3. You KILL duplication. If you defy the odds and do sponsor someone, they’ll start EXPLAINING everything when the approach people they know. And that will kill your business.
Instead of EXPLAINING, you should only get good at INVITING people to see a presentation.
Inviting is SIMPLE – You don’t have to explain anything or answer any questions.
Inviting is DUPLICATABLE – More people can get good at inviting than can good at explaining products and compensation plans.
And Inviting is TIME EFFICIENT – It takes 2 minutes to invite someone as opposed to 30 minutes to explain an opportunity to someone. You can invite 15 people to a presentation in the same time it takes you to explain to 3 people.
Can you master this super simple script, and teach others to use it also?:
You: Do you keep your options open when it comes to making money?
You: Do you have any room in your bank account for more money?
Prospect: Sure… what is it?
You: It’s a lot to go over right now and I’m actually walking into an appointment… but when are you going to be in front of a computer for about 20 minutes later?
Prospect: Probably around 6:00pm?
You: OK, cool… I’ll give you a call then. Make sure you got your computer on. I gotta go right now but you’re gonna love this. (Get off the phone and call them back later to get them on a video or webinar and call them right after the video or webinar is over. Control the process!)
Prospect: Can you tell me about it now?
You: Actually, it’s too much to go into over the phone and frankly, I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. Just be in front of your computer and I’ll call you later. Bye.
Prospect: I don’t have 20 minutes later…
You: Wow! You don’t have 20 minutes later? That’s the exact reason why you need to see this. You sure you don’t have 20 minutes later? (If they say YES, then call them back later. If they say NO, then thank them and move on. DO NOT START EXPLAINING ANYTHING!)
Invite them to a video or webinar presentation and let the SYSTEM work for you.
If you can get good at simply INVITING.. and then teaching your team to simply INVITE… you can build a huge business, and make an enormous amount of money.
Here’s a fun little activity you can do to see if you’re team is INVITING or EXPLAINING:
Pick a few people on your team and listen in on their next couple of phone calls to prospects to find out what they are saying. I’m willing to bet that you’ll be SHOCKED!
